1. Who we are

Meet with Tech ("we", "us", "our") is an online directory and community platform for technology events in the United Kingdom, operated by Tripleweb Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number: 474923167). Our registered office is at Bawtry Hall, South Parade, Bawtry, Doncaster, DN10 6JH, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, we are the data controller of your personal information. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under registration number ZC020850.

2. Who can use this platform

Meet with Tech is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 18. If you believe a person under 18 has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

3. What data we collect and why

We collect the minimum personal data necessary to operate the platform. The table below sets out what we collect, the legal basis under the UK GDPR, and why.

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking pixels. We do not collect payment information directly: if payment features are introduced in the future, this policy will be updated.

4. How your profile information is displayed

When you add a name and profile details, the following visibility rules apply:

Logged-in members can see your full name, bio, avatar, job title, company, city, country, and any social/website links you have provided, unless you have enabled "Hide my public profile".
Visitors who are not logged in will see only a truncated version of your name (e.g. "J. Smith") and your avatar or initials on event attendee lists. They cannot view your full profile.
Event attendee lists show your name and avatar on the event page to indicate attendance. You can control your profile visibility at any time from your profile settings.

6. How we share your data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share limited data with the following categories of third party only where necessary to operate the platform:

Email delivery provider: your email address is passed to our transactional email service to send account-related emails (such as password resets and event confirmations). This provider acts as a data processor under a written agreement.
Hosting infrastructure: our hosting provider processes data on servers located within the United Kingdom or European Economic Area.

We will disclose personal data to law enforcement or regulatory authorities if required to do so by law.

7. Third-party links

The platform contains links to third-party websites and services, including event platforms (Eventbrite, Luma, Meetup) and user-provided links (GitHub, LinkedIn, personal websites). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties. We encourage you to read their privacy policies before sharing personal data with them.

8. International transfers

We do not knowingly transfer your personal data outside the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. If this changes, we will update this policy and ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA).

9. Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory reasons.

Newsletter subscriptions are retained until you unsubscribe. We include an unsubscribe link in every email we send.

Server and access logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days.

10. Automated decision-making

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you. The profile completeness indicator shown in your account is a locally calculated score and does not affect any decisions about you.

11. Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

Right of access: you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
Right to rectification: you can ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Right to erasure: you can ask us to delete your personal data in certain circumstances.
Right to restriction: you can ask us to restrict how we use your data while a dispute is resolved.
Right to data portability: you can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
Right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Right to withdraw consent: where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

13. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure. Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing and are never stored in plain text. All data in transit is encrypted using TLS.

We may update this policy from time to time. Where changes are material we will notify registered users by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
